Hi sweet friends!
We’re Poppi Seed Bakes, also known as Debbie (the mother) and Melissa (the daughter).
Our love of parties and yummy food began in our small apartment kitchen where my mom would make us homemade trail mix with green apple pieces and store-bought caramel squares. We moved into a slightly larger kitchen when I got a little older and could see over the counters. I then became the unwilling sous/pastry chef and tried to rebel by eating raw cookie dough so I wouldn’t have to bake any more cookies during Christmas (Sorry, mom!). Eventually I grew out of the unwilling phase and began to see all the joy that my mom got out of feeding others. From there, we started as KML Events in July 2012 (I can’t believe it’s been that long already!) and recently, as of February 2018, changed our name to PSB (which is a whole other story).
While our name has changed, our love for baking and events has not. We’ve gotten to be a part of some amazeball celebrations (i.e. weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) and we cannot wait for more.
Our baked goods are all made to order with lots of love, laughter (dude, if the kitchen walls could talk!), and most importantly, high quality ingredients. If you wanted grocery store baked goods, you wouldn’t be here, amirite?! It’s our promise that our sweets taste as good as they look. While we’re pretty much down for whatever, cakes are not exactly our forte, but we know lots of peeps who can kill it, if you’re into that sort of thing (#communityovercompetition, yo).
As for that ‘whole other story,’ we lost my grandfather in November of 2017 and during his services I thought a lot about his impact on me (as one usually does). He’d been one of our biggest supporters when it came to KML and we thought the best way to honor him would be to change our name. I called him Poppi for as long as I can remember and after throwing around a few names, Poppi Seed Bakes was born.
He was a man who loved life, people, and celebrating. We hope that you find that same love here with us. <3
every day is a celebration,
